Trump and Fox News in a “Parallel Universe”

Paul Manafort, the President’s idea of a good man, even after he was found guilty of five tax fraud charges, one charge of hiding foreign bank accounts and two counts of bank fraud. He faces a maximum of 80 years in prison.
Yet Donald Trump still called the Mueller investigation a witch hunt.
Yesterday, the same day that the jury returned a verdict convicting Manafort of 8 separate crimes, Michael Cohen stated in open court that Donald Trump DIRECTED him to commit crimes.

“If those payments were a crime for Michael Cohen, then why wouldn’t they be a crime for Donald Trump?” Lanny Davis said in a statement. In addition to being Cohen’s lawyer, Davis served in the White House under President Bill Clinton.

This morning Davis told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that “Helsinki was a significant turning point” for Cohen, “as he worried about the future of our country with the president of the United States aligning with somebody who everybody in his intelligence community … said that Putin interfered and tried to help Trump get elected.”

“That shook up Mr. Cohen,” Davis added.

Neuk Cavuto on Fox News on May 3, 2018 remarked on the Swamp created by Donald Trump was a foul smelling dump.

That was before the President’s worst day in office as reported by CNBC, CNN, the Washington Post,  and many others.

As I sat watching the news coverage last night, I began flipping channels.  I was curious to see how conservative channels like Lou Dobbs, and Fox News, were going to spin this news.  To my shock they weren’t covering the stories at all.  It was as if they were reporting in a “parallel universe.”  They featured a live feed from the President’s rally in West Virginia.  Trump supporters were holding signs of support behind Trump and chanting “lock her up.”  That was the chant from the 2016 campaign before Trump was elected, and before the President’s own attorney stated in open court that Trump directed him to commit a crime.

However it wasn’t just failure to report that the President and his representatives had been found guilty or were directly implicated in crimes.  Fox News reported that the media was “overblowing” the President’s worst day.

It was just the day before, Monday August 20th, that retired Lt Col. Ralph Peters, a man who had worked for years at Fox News described Fox not as immoral, but as “amoral.”

Peters, a retired US Army lieutenant colonel, was a Fox military analyst until March, when he resigned. In a letter to his colleagues, he accused Fox of “assaulting our constitutional order and the rule of law.”

Peters’ statements shocked the TV news industry at the time.  Peters explained that Fox doesn’t respect the United States Constitution.  On CNN’s “Reliable Sources” on Sunday, he had more to say. “People that only listen to Fox have an utterly skewed view of reality,” he said. He described the relationship between the president and his favored news network as a “closed loop,” but that was hardly Peters’ most strident critique of his former employer.

“Fox isn’t immoral, it’s amoral,” he said. Later in the interview, when Reliable Sources aired clips that show Fox News hosts defending Trump’s decision to strip former CIA director John Brennan’s security clearance, Peters was asked if he thought his colleagues at Fox are “proud of their performance.”

“The polite word is ‘prostitutes,’ so I’ll just leave it at that,” Peters fired back.

“Trump gives us something new to worry about virtually every day, but it’s important not to lose sight of the overall picture,” Peters said. “This is a distinctly un-American president who really doesn’t seem to like America very much, certainly doesn’t respect it. And he’s a president who appears to be enthralled to a foreign power, a hostile foreign power.”

That foreign power is Russia. Peters, who was a Russia analyst earlier in his career, has previously said he believes that Vladimir Putin “has a grip on President Trump.”

On “Reliable Sources,” he said he was speaking out because he believes Trump and his aides are a “real threat to our republic.”

“What we need is people who will speak honestly and say what they believe and not worry about who it offends,” Peters said. “I’m just sick and tired of people hedging and hemming and hawing. This is a president of the United States who is a danger to the republic.”

He also said, “I don’t want to be the go-to guy for Fox-bashing forever. But what Fox is doing is causing real harm to our country right now.

Trump will resign or be impeached.  Fox news will still be stinking up the country and causing “harm to our country.”  A patriot can no longer simply oppose Donald Trump butwe must speak out against Fox News.

If you think I’m exaggerating here is an excerpt from Fox:

HANNITY: All right, Mark, I mean, there are some lessons here. I agree that you shouldn’t lie to the FBI. Everyone agrees with that. I also agree that you should pay your taxes. I also agree that you better not lie on a bank loan application. Mark, how did we get from Russia and that this is it after nearly, we are almost at 500 days.

LEVIN: All right. I want to address Michael Cohen. How did we get to that? I want to help the law professors, the constitutional experts, the criminal defense lawyers, the former prosecutors and of course, the professors. I want to help them understand what the law is.

The general counsel for the Clinton mob family, Lanny Davis, he had his client pleaded two counts of criminality that don’t exist. These campaign finance violations that is all over TV, they are saying implicates the president of the United States directly.

First, let’s back up. It is a guilty plea. It is a plea bargain between a prosecutor and a criminal. A criminal who doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life in prison. That is not precedent. That applies only to that specific case. Nobody cites plea bargains for precedent. That’s number one.

Number two, just because a prosecutor says that somebody violated a campaign law doesn’t make it so. He is not the judge. He is not the jury. We didn’t adjudicate anything. It never went to court. That’s number two.

  1. It is absolutely criminal how fox no news denies their viewers important national news. The FCC should remove that propaganda dump site from the airwaves. It is no wonder that America is divided due to this outrageous network. The republicans are down right corrupt evil. What is wrong with them?
There was so much news yesterday negative to the republican party.
Even the Mollie Tibbett murder story, the illegal farm worker worked on a farm owned by a Republican family that hired an illegal !!

  2. “A closed loop.”

    That says it ALL.

Where does that come from? The closed loop of a savior named Jesus Christ.
It is, of course, fine to believe that. It is, however, ignorance.

Most caught in that loop are not ready wake up.
