Steve Bannon was the executive chairman of Breitbart News. Trump chose Bannon to serve as his White House Chief Strategist. However Bannon was fired by Trump. When Bannon left the White House it was clear Trump and Bannon had become mortal enemies. Trump issued the following statement:
Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency. When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind. Steve was a staffer who worked for me after I had already won the nomination by defeating seventeen candidates, often described as the most talented field ever assembled in the Republican party.
Now that he is on his own, Steve is learning that winning isn’t as easy as I make it look. Steve had very little to do with our historic victory, which was delivered by the forgotten men and women of this country. Yet Steve had everything to do with the loss of a Senate seat in Alabama held for more than thirty years by Republicans. Steve doesn’t represent my base—he’s only in it for himself.
Steve pretends to be at war with the media, which he calls the opposition party, yet he spent his time at the White House leaking false information to the media to make himself seem far more important than he was. It is the only thing he does well. Steve was rarely in a one-on-one meeting with me and only pretends to have had influence to fool a few people with no access and no clue, whom he helped write phony books.
We have many great Republican members of Congress and candidates who are very supportive of the Make America Great Again agenda. Like me, they love the United States of America and are helping to finally take our country back and build it up, rather than simply seeking to burn it all down.
It seems that Bannon also has become the mortal enemy of Trump. Bannon celebrated Roy Moore’s victory in the Republican primary in Alabama, who ran against the candidate endorsed by Trump. Bannon described the victory as the beginning of a “revolution” for insurgent Republicans looking to challenge incumbent senators. However, Bannon suffered a “tremendous humiliation” when Democrat Doug Jones won a shocking victory in Alabama’s Senate special election. Bannon made Moore’s candidacy the centerpiece of his effort to reshape the Republican Party.
Bannon and Breitbart has become synonymous with racism, homophobia, and mysognism. To give you a sample of some ot the most incendiary headlines from Breitbart, consider these:
‘Science proves it: Fat-shaming works’
“Would you rather your child had feminism or cancer?”
‘Bill Kristol: Republican spoiler, renegade Jew
Birth control makes women unattractive and crazy’
‘Suck it up buttercups: Dangerous Faggot Tour returns to colleges in September’
Gay rights have made us dumber, it’s time to get back in the closet’
“There’s no hiring bias against women in tech, they just suck at interviews”
Now, add another headline to the list:
The Media’s Stupid Hysteria over Kelly Sadler and Michael Cohen.
Kelly Sadler has been the focus of national news due to a comment she made during a White House meeting. Sadler said that Senator John McCain’s opposition to Gina Haspel as CIA director doesn’t matter because “he’s dying anyway.”
The White House refuses to apologize for Sadler’s offensive and insensitive remark. The White House did say:
“We respect Senator McCain’s service to our nation and he and his family are in our prayers during this difficult time.”
However there was, noticably, no apology. The amazing thing is that Breitbart covered the story, but suggested the national media was wrong to focus on the story.
We all know the media are not horrified or appalled by Sadler’s comment. On the contrary, they are deeeeelighted. You can hear it in every sanctimonious cable news segment, read it in every pompous word. Even beyond the joy the media take from an opportunity that allows them to demonize a Republican (better still, a Republican woman), is the masturbationist-ecstasy (I just made that up) that comes from an opportunity to publicly demonstrate what pure, principled, wholesome, righteous, noble, honorable, exemplary, high-principled, unsullied, untarnished, blameless, moral people they are.
In the same article Breitbart when on to criticize the media for covering the fact that Michael Cohan accepted large amounts (millions) of dollars from large corporations and lobbists. Specifically Breitbart reported:
The breathtaking dumbness found in the media frenzy surrounding the “revelation” that Michael Cohen took money from large corporations interested in leveraging his insight about a sitting president has actually made me laugh out loud at times. AT&T’s simpering “apology” practically put me on the floor.
Freaking out over the discovery that Cohen accepted this money is like freaking out over the discovery that Cohen’s water is wet.
In the world of both media and politics, Cohen’s leveraging his relationship with Trump to make consulting money is as normal, routine, and ordinary as breathing. Almost everybody in politics does this, and I will guarantee you that every phony journalist pretending to have the vapors knows and even works with dozens of people who do the same.
Thus Breitbart was criticizing the media for reporting on payoffs of Michael Cohen, that Breitbart was now reporting on. Of course the first problem is that Trump campaigned on his opposition to the special interest groups and lobbyists who affect legislation.
A week after his January 2017 inauguration, Mr. Trump, lawyers and others from participating in any matter they lobbied or otherwise worked on for private clients within two years before going to work for the government.
But records reviewed by The Associated Press show Mr. Trump’s top lawyer, White House counsel Don McGahn, has issued at least 24
Trump doesn’t apologize. Thus it should come as no surprise that there was no apology from the White House for the remarks of Kelly Sadler. Nobody expected Trump to apologize for Cohen taking in millions of dollars from those who seek to gain influence with the President. The only remarkable thing is that Breitbart condemed the media for covering these stories in the same article that Breitbart used to cover these stories.
