What President Describes a Meeting of Senators as a “Love Fest”?

Donald Trump loves everyone…

at least until you disagree with him.  Then he is irrational in his resolve for revenge.  Trump and Bob Corker have made it clear that there is no love in their relationship.  Now another Senator joins the group headed by Corker, being Republicans who are willing to speak out against Donald Trump.  Jeff Flake, the Senator from Arizona, gave an important speech.  He said:

  • “The notion that one should stay silent as the norms and values that keep America strong are undermined and as the alliances and agreements that ensure the stability of the entire world are routinely threatened by the level of thought that goes into 140 characters — the notion that one should say and do nothing in the face of such mercurial behavior is ahistoric and, I believe, profoundly misguided.”
  • “Leadership knows that most often a good place to start in assigning blame is to first look somewhat closer to home. Leadership knows where the buck stops. Humility helps. Character counts. Leadership does not knowingly encourage or feed ugly and debased appetites in us.”

It is important to note that both Bob Corker and Jeff Flake are on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.  Foreign Relations is perhaps the ares that is most frightening.  Donald Trump is a threat to the safety and security of America, and nobody seems to be doing anything about it.  While resignation are a powerful tool, they remove the Senators who are willing to openly oppose Trump from the voting process.  We need outspoken Senators in Congress.  We need powerful Republicans who are willing to say what they think about Donald Trump.

In response to Flake and Corker, Trump tweeted, not about tax reform, health care, the wall, infrastructure, global warming, but on the amount of “Love” that people have for him.  He is the first President to describe his followers as having a “Love Fest.”

Trump was on Capitol Hill yesterday for a lunch with GOP senators about tax reform, then tweeted:

“The meeting with Republican Senators yesterday, outside of Flake and Corker, was a love fest with standing ovations and great ideas for USA!” Later, he added: “Jeff Flake, with an 18% approval rating in Arizona, said ‘a lot of my colleagues have spoken out.’ Really, they just gave me a standing O!”

Who does that?  What President in history has described his supporters as having a “Love Fest?”  Even if a President earned a standing ovation, what President bragged about it?

It’s clear that Trump surrounds himself with only people who are willing to sell their souls to  the devil, and pretend they love him.

  1. Well, read the interview with Professor Wharton, an anthropological linguistics expert. He describes Trump’s speech and range of words as aboriginal, before writing was invented. He was amazed that Trump managed to graduate college and never developed a higher level of speech. So we can expect to hear inappropriate use of words as Trump finds them on TV.

Apparently they are using spray on stage makeup on Conway. She is now getting a thick base to cover the creases and dark shadows. She’s not as scary…..until she speaks. Can someone show Sanders how to apply false eyelashes? She looks like she has dragonflies on her eyes.

  2. Kellyanne doesn’t have a soul (in the sense of something intrinsically good) to sell. She is fundamentally corrupt. She has always profited by being a dishonest huckster like Trump..That behavior has rewarded her with millions and she will not change. The poor folks who have put their faith in these folks don’t realize they are trusting the worst of the worst.

  3. Trump said his lunch with the Senators ended in a standing ovation. What he didn’t know is that they all stood just to get out of any more crap issued by Trump and clapped that it was over!

  4. Nah, the 21st century GOP running Congress will continue to support Trump in order to complete their gutting of the ACA, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Their 2018 budget with its draconian cuts to the ACA, Medicare and Medicaid, takes care of those programs and they will soon shift their focus to Social Security. Cruz is once again (because he’s not, at the moment, angling for the presidency) calling Social Security a Ponzi scheme. We all know that Social Security would be in perfect shape for the next 1000 years if everyone, including the rich, had to contribute to it. Why they don’t has always been a mystery to me. Modern Republicans think that anything the federal government does that helps average citizens and those who cannot take care of themselves is wasteful because it all should be reserved for them and their ultra-rich benefactors. Case in point, my Congressman, former Marine general of some sort, Jack Bergman, doesn’t think the American people should get anything “free” from the federal government. He would, of course, make exceptions for retired military brass like himself.
