Greg Popovich Dunks on Donald Trump, the Soulless Coward!

For those who love basketball, you gotta love Greg Popovich.  He is the 10th winningest coach in NBA history.  When you watch the Spurs play Popovich always answers reporters questions succinctly.   It is clear that he says what he thinks and is all business.  He is the NBA coach that seems to be the least impressed with his celebrity.  Here is a clip that is typical of his interview style:

Greg Popovich is ex-Air Force.  He reacted to Trump’s claim that other presidents including Barack Obama  never called grieving military families.  He was so offended by Trump’s remarks that he  called up Dave Zirin of The Nation. “I want to say something and please just let me talk and please make sure this is on the record” Pop said.  He gave his statement:

I’ve been amazed and disappointed by so much of what this President had said, and his approach to running this country, which seems to be one of just a never ending divisiveness. But his comments today about those who have lost loved ones in times of war and his lies that previous presidents Obama and Bush never contacted their families, is so beyond the pale, I almost don’t have the words.

This man in the Oval Office is a soulless coward who thinks that he can only become large by belittling others. This has of course been a common practice of his, but to do it in this manner–and to lie about how previous Presidents responded to the deaths of soldiers–is as low as it gets. We have a pathological liar in the White House: unfit intellectually, emotionally, and psychologically to hold this office and the whole world knows it, especially those around him every day. The people who work with this President should be ashamed because they know it better than anyone just how unfit he is, and yet they choose to do nothing about it. This is their shame most of all.

  1. He supports the NFL kneelers. The Constitution protects the kneelers.

A caller on the radio last night said he too supports what is “Behind” the NFL kneeling, however:

He said people pay to see them play, to put on a show. And that bringing these issues into that arena contaminates the very apparatus people turn to as an escape from those very issues, and so that safe-zone is no longer safe, there becomes no resting place from the outside world. No down-time, but continued stimuli and smeared trauma and aggression. And those players are all paid exceptionally well to essentially provide that service. This otherwise becomes a kind of hostage-taking the fans are subjected to. He said players must find other avenues to express themselves, be heard, and effect change.

I agree with the caller. He was educated, has the facts, was on-point. I love that The Constution protects our free speech. I would never ever kneel during our national anthem, I find the kneeling childish and misguided at a minimum. Trump may be a lot of things to many, but we put that aside and stand united.

    1. The kneeling had nothing to do with trump. Once again distorted facts. The kneeling is about police brutality towards citizens. Some Law Enforcement employees have become increasingly aggressive and angry. They appear angry and in military style. The war brought home. Numerous cases across the country. Unless the so called presidence ordered these rogue officers to behave like this it has nothing to do with trump except for the discourse in our society due to his behavior and crimes.

  2. Well said and I cant agree more. This country is in danger everyday that we allow trump and his foundation of liars to continue this crime against America. It must end.

  3. That is a great analysis of the problem, those who work with Trump and choose to do nothing. The silence from the GOP majority is a problem They are part of the Trump problem. The GOP = Trump, and that’s the message that needs to be attached to every 2018 GOP candidate.
