Trump’s Racist Remarks Go Far Beyond Kneeling During the Anthem!

Donald Trump assailed the black NFL players who took a knee during the national anthem. Trump said that the owner should “get that son of a bitch” off the field, referring to Colin Kaepernick.

Much debate has ensued.  The focus of the coverage has been about the Black players protesting during the national anthem.  Some players and fans have supported the protesters and others, including some owners, have threatened to fire anyone kneeling during the anthem.  Instead, owners like Jerry Jones, have knelt with his players BEFORE the anthem.

However the most outrageous thing Trump said about the NFL seems to have been lost in the rush to suggest racism associated with taking a knee.  The even more despicable racists remarks were Trump glorifying the violence on the field.  Trump said:

Today if you hit too hard, you hit too hard, 15 yards, throw him out of the game.”

“Two guys, (demonstrating with his fists), just beautiful tackle ,  boom, 15 yards, the referee gets on television,  his wife is sitting at home, she’s so proud of him, they are ruining the game! They are ruining the game.”

“That’s what they want to do.  They want to hit.”

“Not the same game anymore.”

Trump is clearly a fan of the “beautiful tackle.”  No doubt that he thinks the tackle is “beautiful” because it is usually a Black player who suffers from the tackle. In America only 13% of the population is Black.  However 70% of NFL players are Black.  “Players” have died “playing” football.

This is a video of the 10 Hardest Football hits that resulted in knockouts.

Not surprisingly, 9 of the 10 players who were knocked out were Black.  In Trump’s mind these are “beautiful” tackles.

The NFL has tried to prevent these dangerous hits and the resulting in CTE.  Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) is a degenerative brain disease found in athletes, military veterans, and others with a history of repetitive brain trauma.

The NFL adopted a ban on the ball carrier initiating contact with the crown of his helmet in the open field or by a defender while making a tackle.  The NFL was trying to limit or avoid  concussions.  The NFL was trying to prevent players from using their helmets as weapons.

The NFL has taken this step in response to the many documented cases of CTE among NFL players.  In July of this year, a study published in the medical journal JAMA identifies CTE in 99% of deceased NFL players’ brains that were donated to scientific research — 110 out of 111 former NFL players.  Most of America knows of this problem. A movie called “Concussion” was even made about it.
Forget Trump’s remarks about Black NFL players taking a knee.  The more outrageous remarks related to his beautification of tackles that left Black players dead or severely concussed.

I honestly do not think we could have ended up with a worst prez. I recall being so annoyed with Bush as he was sometimes so dense. At this point being dense would be a blessing. Trump is – I think – a totally ignorant and evil man. So disgusting.

Did you happen to watch Rachel last night – she went into detail about how people in Puerto Rico are beginning to suffer and die from a water born killer. People are drinking from streams and other sources that are contaminated – becoming sick and without proper medical help are dying.

  3. Thinking outside the box. The owners should have stopped playing the National Anthem when Trump decided to politicize it. Here’s the justification. Athletes’ salaries went through the roof when they decided they were “performers” not players in sport competition. They wanted movie and TV size salaries. Since it’s no longer sport, we can remove the Anthem. Do we stand for the Anthem before a movie, TV show, theater performance, live concert?

With all the on field celebrations, we have reached the level of cheap amateur theater, bordering on “The Gong Show.” Add the fact we don’t know who’s taking bribes to throw games, it might as well be WWE Wrestling. Pull the Anthem, end the divisiveness.
