Adolph Hitler explained that the way to make people believe a lie, is to tell it often, and to make it a really big lie. Donald Trump learned from the best. He lies often and with great zeal. President Trump has repeatedly proclaimed that he will build a wall between Mexico and the United States, and that Mexico will pay for the wall.
So far, Trump has totally failed to build his wall. Even though he is still proclaiming that Mexico is going to pay for the wall, Trump announced in Arizona that he is willing to risk a budget crisis in order to honor a campaign pledge to build the wall.
“If we have to close down the government, we are building that wall,” Trump said Tuesday night during a campaign-style rally at the Phoenix Convention Center. He added that in electing him last November, the American people “voted for immigration control.”
Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has repeatedly gone on record making it crystal clear that Mexico would not pay for a border wall.
“It is evident that we have some differences with the new government of the United States, like the topic of the wall, that Mexico of course will not pay,” Nieto said during a speech in front of foreign diplomats at the National Palace according to reports.
Peña Nieto had similarly refuted the notion following a September meeting with then-candidate Trump in Mexico.
“At the start of the conversation with Donald Trump, I made it clear that Mexico will not pay for the wall,” Peña Nieto tweeted after the two politicians met.
Since February of 2016, Nieto’s predecessor made it crystal clear that Mexico was not going to pay for the “fucking wall.”
The amazing thing is that Trump seems to realize that Mexico will not pay for the wall as he has threatened a government shut down if Congress doesn’t approve the funding for the wall. Simultaneously Trump is telling people, repeatedly, that Mexico is going to pay for the wall.
