Guess Who Didn’t Come to Dinner!

If you guessed that Donald Trump missed the White House correspondent’s dinner, you’d win a prize.  A narcissist who was unable to laugh about himself wouldn’t be able to tolerate the humor at his expense.  He didn’t go.  He couldn’t laugh.  Instead he appeared at an alternate location where HE lambasted the media.  The Rally was in Harrisburg Pennsylvania before Trump supporters where people in the audience were “beautiful, beautiful people”.  They were people who booed the people attending the Correspondent’s dinner.  Trump explained that he couldn’t be more thrilled to be spending his time with these supporters who were “much better people.”

The WHCA’s annual dinner, begun in 1921,[4] has become a Washington, D.C. tradition.  Fifteen presidents have attended at least one WHCA dinner, beginning with Calvin Coolidge in 1924.

Since 1983 the featured speaker has usually been a comedian, with the dinner taking on the form of a roast of the president and his administration.

At the outset of the dinner this year, there was a video illustrating the critical importance of the press in making our Presidents accountable to the American people.  Given Trump’s assertion that the press has not been fair to him, the importance of the press is more important than ever.  Please watch this video!

As we consider the fact that President Trump refused to attend this year’s dinner, consider the appearances of Presidents of the past.  Each one, regardless of their political party indicated two things.  Each President conveyed a sense of humor.  Each President indicated that they were not always happy with the press coverage they received.

It was only fitting that the host this year was Comedy Central’s Hasan Minhaj.

Only in America can a first-generation Indian-American Muslim kid get on this stage and make fun of the president,” Minhaj said. “It’s a sign to the rest of the world, it’s this amazing tradition, that even the president is not beyond the reach of the First Amendment.”

Given the importance of the First Amendment, and My right to write this blog,  and criticize the President, I thank you, the American people for recognizing the importance of that right.

  1. Trump is a dangerous pathological liar. He has no remorse or guilt of the damage he has caused many. He was groomed and trained to lie as a child. He was sent to a military school at the age of 12. He probably got his ass kicked, raped and made into the liar that he is today. I read a story online about the guy that showered with Donald Trump in Military school. He explained how and why don is who he is today. The immediate supervisor groomed him into the lying bully we have today. A simple background check of don john trump would have prevented him from being on the ballot. He is a criminal, liar and cheat 100%. And 100 days of this mentally ill liar and so called American is far enough for Americans to allow.

  3. Of course he didn’t attend – there were no candied pecans on the menu. It’s nothing more than that, surely.
