It seems Donald Trump is just now waking up to how complicated it is to solve the many problems facing the United States. To say that “nobody knew that healthcare could be so complicated” is appalling! Everyone in America knew it was complicated, from the janitor to the CEO. Politicians have been addressing the health care crisis in America for the last CENTURY. We are the only first-world country without some type of nationalized health care. In fact, many developed countries have had some form of social insurance (that later evolved into national insurance) for nearly as long as the US has been trying to get it. Was Trump asleep during the Bill Clinton presidency when Hillary worked so hard to achieve nationalize health care? Had Trump ever heard of Ted Kennedy? He considered considered health care reform “the cause” of his life. Throughout his 47 years in the U.S. senate, Kennedy fought for universal comprehensive coverage 15 different times, working closely with the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) committee to pass a health care reform bill, even while undergoing cancer treatments in Massachusetts.
Tonight is Trump’s speech before Congress. I predict that Trump will have NO detailed plan regarding anything. He seems to just now be realizing that running the country is a difficult job, …maybe harder than he thought.
On the campaign trail he failed to provide any details about anything. Now that he’s President, why would anyone expect anything different? Trump has declared his intention to build a wall, leave social security, medicaid and medicare untouched, restore the country’s crumbling infrastructure, repeal and replace Obama care with something better, increase military spending by over 50 Billion Dollars, he promised the most liberal student loan repayment plan since the inception of the federal financial aid program, and he proclaimed that we would have a “MAJOR TAX REDUCTION.”
Rather than speaking to Congress, Trump should have starred in a fictional movie.
At least we could leave the theater when the movie was over, and go back to real life. With Trump as President,we find ourselves wishing we could go back.
