The absurdity of Donald Trump’s perception of himself as President is unprecedented! Imagine a person playing six rounds of golf in his first four weeks as President. It’s outrageous that a man who said he would not take vacation because there was too much to do, has take so much time off, so early in his Presidency. To make matters worse, Trump has written a book indicating that if you take vacation that’s a sign that you’re in the wrong job. Even worse was his attack on President Obama for playing golf. Trump said:
“Can you believe that, with all of the problems and difficulties facing the U.S., President Obama spent the day playing golf.” Mr. Trump tweeted on Oct. 13, 2014. “Worse than Carter.”
“We pay for Obama’s travel so he can fundraise millions so Democrats can run on lies,” he said a day later. “Then we pay for his golf.”
Then for a third time that month, Mr. Trump tweeted about Mr. Obama’s golf habit on Oct. 23, 2014.
“President Obama has a major meeting on the N.Y.C. Ebola outbreak, with people flying in from all over the country, but decided to play golf!”
To put Trump’s golf playing in perspective, Trump is on track to take more vacation time than George W. Bush, Barack Obama, or Bill Clinton.
As if Donald Trump couldn’t be more offensive about his time off, he has now gone on record as giving himself an A+ for achievement and hard work. It’s like Sarah Palin giving herself an A+ for finishing her term as Governor, or giving herself an A+ in Constitutional law, or giving herself an A+ world geography, or giving herself an A+ in American revolutionary history, or giving herself an A+ in dike building.
We don’t let students grade themselves, and we shouldn’t let Trump grade himself either.
