The Endorsement of Sarah Palin is the Kiss of Death!

Kelly Ayotte (R) is running for Senate in New Hampshire against Paul Hode (D).   As late as April, Ayotte was ahead of Hode by 8 points in the polls. On July 19th Palin announced her endorsement of Ayotte.  Ayotte was so excited to get Palin’s endorsement that she changed her web site to advertise the Palin endorsement.  Now when you go to the Ayotte website, you might mistakenly think you are at a Sarah Palin website.    The first page of the website features a picture of Palin, as if it is a Palin website.  The picture of Ayotte is a profile shot, off to the far side of the page.  Mr. Hode took advantage of this tactical error and has focused his website on the realization that a vote for Ayotte is essentially a vote for Sarah Palin.  At the top of the first page of his website, there is a bold heading saying “Help Paul Keep Palin Politics Out of New Hampshire.”  He also features on of the most unflattering images of Palin.  His website now features an entire page devoted to “refudiating” Palin and Ayotte, side by side.

“The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s ‘death panel’ so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.”
-Sarah Palin

Ayotte joined Palin in spreading lies and misinformation about health care reform. She whole-heartedly pushed the GOP plan to give insurance companies control of our health care, and now she wants to repeal health care reform.

Paul Hodes on health care: “Health insurance reform will provide tax cuts for thousands of small businesses, prevent kids from being locked out of their doctor’s office, and prevent Americans from being kicked off their insurance plans when they get sick.”

“I believe that no matter what mistakes we make as a society [referring to rape, incest], we cannot condone ending an innocent’s life.”
-Sarah Palin

Joining Palin on the anti-choice honor roll, Kelly Ayotte went all the way to the Supreme Court to defend legislation that was so stridently anti-choice that the New Hampshire courts had ruled it unconstitutional. And, she’s been made an anti-choice poster-girl by the Susan B. Anthony List.

Paul Hodes on choice: “A woman’s right to choose is a matter of fundamental liberty. I believe women – not Washington politicians – should be free to make health care decisions in consultation with their doctors.”

“Your protests and lawsuits and lies about onshore and shallow water drilling have locked up safer areas. It’s catching up with you. The tragic, unprecedented deep water Gulf oil spill proves it.”
-Sarah Palin

While Sarah Palin was busy blaming environmentalists for the disastrous Gulf Spill, Kelly Ayotte chose to join her and stand up for BP and Big Oil instead of New Hampshire. Ayotte refused to take drilling in New Hampshire off the table.

Paul Hodes on drilling: “I will never vote to allow drilling off the coast of my state, period. Our coastal environment, fishing, and tourism are for more important than Big Oil’s bottom line.”

In less than 10 days Hode’s position in the polls has improved significantly.  Moderates make up the largest bloc of the New Hampshire electorate. While Hode previously lead them by an 8 point lead, he is now favored with moderates by 21 points, 51-30.  Fifty one percent of voters in the state say that they are less likely to back a Palin endorsed candidate.

Kelly Ayotte is still the most anti-choice woman in New Hampshire.  Her policies have not changed since Palin called her a “bold, brave” candidate at the Susan B. Anthony event in D.C. What has changed is that Palin’s endorsement of Ayotte has brought into focus how radically dangerous Ayotte is.  It is also the most obvious evidence that people in America are finally realizing that Sarah Palin is clueless, and that anyone Palin endorses likely shares her world view.

  1. Palin is proof positive there are no Death Panels, for if there were, she would have been deemed worthless by now.
Rape and incest are mistakes we make as a society? I think the mistake is not letting victims of rape and incest decide if they want to give birth to their attackers child. Palin? She’d have an abortion and tell everyone about her miscarriage.
As for the logic Palin brings to the discussion on drilling for oil, it’s as if she dropped her drawers and took a giant dump on the whole theme of her TLC series.
