A Fox News Story on Sarah Palin You Probably Missed

On November 5, 2008 I was so relieved that Sarah Palin would not be a “heartbeat away from the Presidency” that I was celebrating.  During the campaign I watched the news every night, but it was usually CNN or MSNBC.  Every time Lou Dobbs appeared on the screen I changed the channel, and if I ever watched Fox News, it was due to a mistake.  Certainly on November 5, 2008 we didn’t expect Palin would later resign as the Governor of Alaska.  Who could have predicted that a year after the election of 2008 Palin would become an analyst for Fox News?

Many of us have read Game Change, which documents the multitude of problems with Palin during the campaign.  As persuasive as this book appeared to be, some Palin supporters, if they read books, might think that the information reported in Game Change was unreliable because the names of each person reporting the information were not disclosed.  While the information appeared to be credible, and the authors were trustworthy reporters, Palin supporters could justify their disbelief by complaining that the names of the people providing specific comments had been omitted.

In my ongoing quest for the truth regarding Palin, I discovered an old Fox News clip that had previously escaped my attention.  It must have been “God’s plan” to cause this story to come to my attention, knowing that I would report it today.  The clip is by Carl Cameron, a reporter for Fox, who did a very revealing report the day following the election of 2008.  He explains that he had access to much of the information detailed during the campaign, but he was not allowed to report the story until the election was over because the information was “off the record” until then.  Fox News, the station that hired Sarah Palin, confirmed the very things reported in Game Change. John Heilemann and Mark Halperin’s Game Change, which was not published until 2010 confirmed what Fox News reported on November 5, 2008.

Sarah Palin was the person who was “thrilled to be joining the great talent and management team at Fox News” and found it “wonderful to be part of a place that so values fair and balanced news.”

This is the “fair and balanced news” story reported on November 5, 2008:

Ron White is a very funny comedian, and he does one of my favorite comedy routines entitled “You Can’t Fix Stupid”.  I am not sure if that routine is applicable to Fox News, John McCain, Sarah Palin or all of the above?

  1. I remember that vividly. Many of Sarah Palin’s fans went ballistic over this and could not understand why Carl would trash Sarah so much, most speculating that he was simply jealous of not being given prime access so he was making things up about her. It was quite hilarious.

Honestly in their minds (and hers too no doubt) if you don’t fall down to the floor and worship her, you are simply either jealous of her, or a hateful person who is unwilling to acknowledge how wonderful and powerful she really is.

The “bots” are truly like cult members who allow no bad words about their idol to be spoken without an immediate reaction, and they are unable to debate anyone on the issues, they simply respond with attacks or lies about her record repeated over and over with their fingers in their ears screaming…la la la la la la la…at the top of their lungs so they don’t have to hear the truth.

It does not matter that these facts reported by numerous people who worked with her have been confirmed by many, many people, they simply refuse to accept them as truth because it does not fit with the fantasy idol they have created in their mind.

    1. EyeOn You, Thanks for the comment, and I too have been amazed that Palin fans are willing to dismiss ANYONE who might mention anything disparaging about Palin, even if its Fox News. I keep citing sources for the information I am writing, and even though nothing is ever cited in response, there is always a suggestion that the source is biased. In this case how could any Palin supporter possibly believe that Fox News was biased??? It just amazes me! Malia

I honestly don’t know how much more I can take of her.

  3. Thank you for sharing this video. Palin learned to only answer prescreened questions on her speaking engagements thereby seeking control and avoid revealing her ignorance and lack of fundmental education. It is frightening Palin is delusional and arrogant to go forth presenting her self as the only person is is knoweledgeable and she alone knows facts as she makes things up. She has demonstrated she has no interest nor values learning or having a command of facts evident by quitting her governorship and continued diatribes of mostly lies. Palin is intolerant of being asked questions and answering them. She suffers from entitlement. If she attempts a run again I pray people who have credibility will again speak up for the good of our country, citizens and the world.

I did not know dear Sarah took six years to get a Bachelors degree. Isn’t this a two year program? It is in our state.
either she is some dumb dame, or she did a lot of playing around in college. My Brother got a PHD in five,a Masters in another year.
She is even dummer then expected, and she believes she…. is intelligent enough to lead the country??Where my i ask?
(Also too), why wasn’t this known by the public during the campaign.

    1. gkb,
Yes she attended 5 different schools in order to get a 4 year degree, and none of them were in-state school, so don’t believe anyone who might tell you that money was an issue for Poor Sarah. Also, the first school she attended was in Hawaii, and she and her friends dropped out of school that year, and it might have been due to the weather (it rained a lot)or could have been that they were distracted from their studies due to the pot smoking (see Trailblazer). In either case, I think she should have pursued an education a little longer so she might understand that Africa is not a country! Malia

  6. I seem to recall seeing parts of this clip following the election, confirming what many of us had believed, as well as voiced on the AK blogs. We commented about her “not being vetted”, “Hail Mary pass”, and her lack of knowledge and even intellectual curiosity about the world in general.

Perhaps, FAUX was reading Mudflats & IM & Shannyn.

This clip should be a keeper since we may have to replay it in 2012 or even 2016!

  7. Malia, there is another interview with Carl Cameron when he was on Bill O’Reilly telling Bill all this and more. Poor Carl was so breathless repeating all the stuff he had heard on the campaign trail! I think he even mentioned the towel incident! See if you can find that clip. It was hilarious, Billo was attempting to defend Sarah and Carl was talking over Bill, describing more and more embarrassing moments of Sarah “Quitter” Palin.

  10. Thanks for posting this, Malia. It’s definitely an oldie but goodie 😉 Don’t you just love how FOX is so fair and balanced in this segment? I always get the feeling when Palin is interviewed by O’Reilly that he’s sitting there and wondering just how dumb she really is? He feeds her the softball questions with the answers in the form of a question and she still has difficulty answering. However, can you imagine him giving a pass to a Democratic candidate who needed to study up on the issues in order to run for President? Hell, no! Only with $P, she gets a pass for everything.

    1. I hope you saw Palin’s interview with Beck in which he asked her who her favorite Founding Father is — since she had sanctimoniously mentioned them in her previous sentence. After an uncomfortable pause, Palin answered, “All of them” because she was stymied. (How much does that sound like her equivalent answer to Couric about what she reads?)

Then you can then hear Beck saying “Bullshit” in the background! After being pushed, Palin eventually named Washington and went off into a stream of consciousness ramble about how W. did his duty for the country and went back to being a farmer. (I guess she views Washington as a fellow Redneck!)

I’m wondering if Beck will be named in her next book as another “Hater” since he embarassed her with a softball question or whether he gets a pass because he’s a fellow talking head on Faux Nooz. No wonder she takes only pre-screened questions!

      1. BW I watched this interview, and noted that her response was the same as the response she gave to Katie Couric when asked which books she reads. I didn’t hear the “bullshit” comment, so I will certainly listen again. Thanks for pointing this out to me. malia

  12. “You can’t fix stupid” should be made into a bumper sticker with Palin’s face on it. I will order one immediately if you have them made, Malia.

She was stupid then and she is stupid now. Palin has no interest in becoming more worldly. She has found an audience that seeks shallow answers to complex problems and celebrates sound bytes as though they were deep thoughts. I hope that “spill, baby, spill”, “The Wild Alaskan Dingbat” and other witty retorts to her witlessness come back to obliterate any plans she has to become Queen of the TPers.

I like the fact that Jeb Bush put her down recently in an interview by saying that a president in the 21st century must have “intellectual curiosity”, neatly identifying an obstacle she couldn’t leap. If SP wants to make money selling word-salads to credulous fans, thereby bilking the lowest common denominator in our society, so be it, but she will never be elected to federal office.

    1. BW, If I can find a good source for the Bumper Stickers, I’ll let you know.

I never thought of it this way but maybe if her supporters give her all their money now, they won’t have any left to give her in the 2012 campaign. We shall see! malia

    1. nancydrew, Yes, I’ve been thinking it for a long time, but didn’t expect to find the answer on Fox news. When I wrote the book on Palin, her words were the best evidence of her incompetence, and now we have proof from Fox News that they are more interested in ratings than in News. Malia

  13. This is what just infuriates me about John McCain and his entire campaign staff. They were willing to have this imbecile of a woman who couldn’t even name one newspaper or publication she read, nor did she have the most basis knowledge of geography to know that Africa was a continent! There was not one question she was asked by Couric or Gibson that were “gotcha” questions and yet in order to try and hi-jack the election they went right ahead knowing exactly what they were dealing with. It is my fervent hope that John McCain is sent packing from Washington and he can just spend time going from one of his many houses to the next. Damn him to hell!

But, there was lots of money to made off of her, and for her, so she quit on the people who trusted her, and voted for her in Alaska. The puppet masters thought all would forget, and now we have this flame thrower daily in our face. Thanks Malia.
